Hundreds of Pinoys in Jersey City flocked yesterday to Stockbridge, Massachusettes to celebrate the Feast of Divine Mercy. It is an annual event (every last Sunday of March) attended by devout Catholics who have petitions to the Lord via Divine Mercy.
Filipinos have various means of getting there, but the most common is by buses. Religious groups like Couple For Christ, usually rent few buses.
The travel time is around 3.5 hrs – 4 hrs depending on traffic, with one 15-minute stop-over at a Deli somewhere in New York.
The celebration usually begins with 1PM mass that takes at least 2 hours to finish. It will be followed by a Divine Mercy petition, similar to a Holy Rosary.
The weather usually varies. The first time I went there 6 years ago, it was freezing cold. I also experienced tremendous rain showers before but yesterday was a very nice day. Some portions of the mountain slope are still muddy, though.
The buses left Stockbridge at exactly 430PM.
