Sad news: a 55-year old Filipino was murdered at his apartment on Roosevelt Avenue. He was stabbed multiple times, and there appears to be wounds on his right hand, which means he tried defending himself. Initial investigation reports that burglary was the motive behind the killing, but authorities didn’t find signs of forced entry. “More startling is the fact that the suspects who stabbed Tecson to death did not take anything of value from their house – not even money or jewelry. Everything was reported to be intact.” according to the Filipino Express.

Wife finds hubby dead at JC home
By EDMUND M. SILVESTREJERSEY CITY — Police are still searching for clues over the brutal murder a of 55-year-old Filipino man who was stabbed multiple times during what was believed to be a botched robbery at his family’s Roosevelt Avenue apartment home on Nov. 6.
The body of Jose P. Tecson was discovered by his wife Rufina when she returned home at about 3:30 p.m., Hudson County First Assistant Prosecutor Guy Gregory told the Filipino Reporter.
A neighbor said the wife came running out screaming and crying following the gruesome discovery.
Tecson, a computer operator for Valley National Bank in Wayne, N.J., appeared to have been killed in a random attack in the middle of the day, authorities said.
Although investigators believe it was a burglary attempt, there was no sign of forced entry at the two-family home where Tecson lived with his wife in a first-floor apartment, Gregory said.
When asked by the Reporter if anything valuable was missing in the house, Gregory declined to comment.
Tecson, a father of three grown sons, was last seen alive at 8 a.m., Gregory said.
Neighbors stood along a taped-off area between Mallory and Marcy Avenues and expressed shock over the killing of a man they remembered as respectful neighbor and dedicated family man.
“I don’t know who would do that to him,” said Jerrilyn Vasquez, a neighbor who’s also a Filipino. “He’s a very nice man, he’s always smiling.”
One neighbor told reporters Tecson, who came to the United States in 1991, had just become a grandfather for the first time.
“He was so happy being a grandfather,” the neighbor said.
Officials at Valley National Bank in Wayne, where Tecson worked for the last six years, declined to comment when contacted by the Reporter.
Homicide detectives have collected evidence from the home and at one point seen hauling an air-conditioner unit from the victim’s house into a police van.
Tecson’s autopsy revealed “multiple stab wounds to the chest and abdomen,” said Gregory, who declined to comment to reports that the victim was tied up in the bathroom.
Another unverified report said Tecson’s body was found by his wife in the hallway of the apartment.
“There were information printed by the media that did not come from us,” he told the Reporter. “The investigation is still ongoing.”
Tecson’s remains were cremated on Nov. 13 at Rosehill Crematory in Linden, N.J. following a memorial mass at Our Lady of Mercy Church in Jersey City. Greenville Funeral Home was in charge.
Aside from his wife Rufina (Gonzales), Tecson is also survived by his three sons Paolo, Gino and Varick; a grandchild Trystan; five brothers Edgardo, Ricardo, Hector, Raul and Jess; and a sister Nora.

Daylight stabbing of 55-year old Filipino in his home angers
Jersey City neighborhood.JERSEY CITY– A 55- year old Filipino computer operator was found murdered here in Jersey City on Thursday, November 6.
Jose “Ping” Tecson’s body was discovered by his wife Rufina, in their home at 133 Roosevelt Avenue, when she came back from work at a local Target store. She discovered her husband in the bathroom, tied up and dead from multiple stab wounds to the chest and abdomen. Authorities reveal that the murder occurred between 8:00 AM and 3:00 PM.
It was initially believed to be a robbery-homicide case, however, the authorities did not see any signs of forced entry. More startling is the fact that the suspects who stabbed Tecson to death did not take anything of value from their house – not even money or jewelry. Everything was reported to be intact.
A source revealed that the crime could be an inside job. It could have been done by someone the victim knew or close to. The police, however, declined to make any comments because the case is still under investigation.
Jose Tecson worked as a computer operator for the Valley Nation Bank in Wayne, New Jersey. He was a loving father to his three sons, Gino, Varick and Paolo. Friends remember him as a respectful neighbor and a devoted family man.
The horrendous murder ticked-off residents of the neighborhood where many believe is spiraling towards gang-land.
“If only I have the money, I will move out of this place,” said a man whose house is just several feet away from the crime scene. “This is not an ideal place to live and raise a family. Gangs are everywhere.”
A woman living around the area also expressed disgust with the lawlessness: “My car had been vandalized a couple of times. And it is just not safe to walk around not just at night, but anytime of day.”
